Another new race for me and a real classic. A great atmosphere and a great route. There is a heavy downpour before the start but the cloud base is above the fells and it then stays dry.
I set-off fast, probably too fast, and am first out of the field....but then soon overtaken. I run strong along the tracks and climb well to Robinson. The ground is dry and the route is obvious, on to Hindscarth and fast running to Dale Head. I get a good line down to the right of the tarn and pass Lawrence who is tacking the longer race.
I then pass Russ who is out supporting and have a great run over Maiden Moor to Catbells and a fast descent to the finish. I am pleased with my 15th place and 1hr 52mins 59secs time.
