Work - Friday 23rd January 2015

Work gets in the way, no time to run today.

Scout Scar (again) - Thursday 22nd January 2015

Things go much better tonight; I run continuously for over an  hour and feel good. Conditions are ideal, still some snow but dry and cold.

Scout Scar - Wednesday 21st January 2015

Sine good news but not a great day. Six weeks in from my op I'm back at the hospital and get the all clear; its healed well and I can no longer damage the mesh donuts full steam ahead.

Last minute decision to not go to training (sorry Russ, but just couldn't face the Tarmac) so head up on to the Scar. But a real tish time, should have stuck to my original plan :-(

No running (or walking) - Tuesday 20th January 2015

A busy day and no time for any exercise.

Scout Scar - Monday 19th January 2015

I might not quite be up to training yet but, instead, I head out onto the Scar for an evening run. Some snow about and a chilly evening but I soon warm up. Out for an hour or so, only steady but I'm getting back into it.

Ingleborough - Sunday 18th January 2015

Late afternoon I head over to Ingleton for a steady run (yes, I did say run !!!) up Ingleborough. I park as close to the fell as possible and set off steadily up the snowy and icy track. I feel ok, not as fit as I have been but perhaps all is not lost.

We make steady progress, the views are spectacular as the sun starts to dip. The summit is deserted and then an off path descent makes for easy running and soon back on the track it's just a steady run back to the cars.

What a great time of day to be out. The whole of the snow-clad Lakeland fells can be seen, as can Bowland and Morecambe Bay.....stunning.

Lingmoor - Saturday 17th January 2015

Another walk.......early afternoon I head over to Elterwater in the Cali; then set off on a walk, up through the quarries and onto Lingmoor; the odd hail and snow shower blows through and it is chilly but could be a lot worse. I then follow the Three Shires race route to drop down to the road and then take the track along the far side of Little Langdale.

Past the Catherdral and then up to the Three Shires pub; from there just a short up and over brings us back to Elterwater. A quick brew, changed and then head to Chesters for a very late lunch or perhaps a very early tea.

Saturday 17 January 2015

More walks - Friday 9th - Friday 16th January 2015

So I continue to get out for walks, hopefully one day I might progress and make it out for a run !?

Friday is a wash-out, so instead of a walk at lunch I go to test drive a car.....very nice !

Saturday me and Barnus have a walk and then brunch at Staveley and, on Sunday, I make it up and over Loughrigg; a good walk, back along the terrace and absolutely no one about....maybe that's because the weather is foul but it gets a whole lot worse later in the day.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I get out for a walk at lunchtimes; Friday just too busy.

Thursday 8 January 2015

Walks - Monday 5th to Thursday 8th January 2015

I'm now fully back to work but still no running. But I can walk so Tuesday evening I head up on to Cunswick Scar; Wednesday lunchtime along the river to Force Bridge and back along the other side and Thursday evening an on-road walk from Staveley.

I hope I can run again soon, it's what I do :-(

Cotswolds - Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th January 2015

I head away for the weekend, to the Cotswolds. I rent a small cottage, just outside Chipping Campden, it is warm and cosy. The weekend goes very well.

I manage some gentle walking, to Broadway Tower in the rain on Saturday and to Dover's Hill in the mist on Sunday.

It's all good.

Nine Standards Fell Race - Thursday 1st January 2015

So another year passes, hopefully this one will be better.

I head up to Kirkby Stephen to watch, sadly not to run, the fell race. The weather is similar to last year, albeit about 10c warmer ! I drive to the end of road, I'm early so I decide to walk to the summit. It is wet and windy, I am well wrapped up against the elements so stay warm and dry.

I take it easy but get the summit and quite a way back down before the racers pass me, I give words of encouragement. I am back at the camper before the leaders return, the weather is getting worse and the runners look like it's tough going. It's good to see and support the race.
