A busy day, I manage to get out for an hour on my bike late afternoon - a quick blast around my usual Lyth Valley route - there is a cold breeze, I am glad of my Gore Windstopper top.

Coniston 14 - Saturday 31st March 2012
I entered this some months ago and had not trained specifically for a road race - I had no idea how I would do or what pace to set-off at.
A good Helm turn-out: Kath, Dave R, Geoff, Ian and Leonie and, perhaps, a few more. The day is cooler but dry, ideal running conditions.
I start near the front and am soon passed by a few runners; however, I run hard, don't feel relaxed but don't let that slow me, and on the East side of the lake I start to gain some places.
I am constantly calculating my pace and possible finish time, maybe inside 1hr 30mins ?
I continue to run strong all the way to the finish - the crowds in the village of Coniston give tremendous support and will me on. I finish in 1hr 25mins 59secs - I am pleased with this and come 17th, and in the prizes :-)

A run with Tim - Thursday 29th March 2012
I have not run with Tim or even had much time to chat with him for a while so we arrange a lunchtime run.
We meet at the Racecourse layby (Scout Scar) and, in glorious sunshine, set-off on a route to Helsington Church and then, for me, back on my usual route. We run well together and catch-up on things, the steep climb leads us to my favourite place on the Scar, the vista opens up before our eyes.
Across to the Mushroom and back down to the layby - out for about an hour, a good run, with good company - thanks Tim.
I manage a quick zip out on the bike later, usual Lyth Valley route - this is good :-)
Potter Fell - Wednesday 28th March 2012
I decide against training, another sunny evening so I head to Staveley for a run to Potter Tarn and Potter Fell.
There is no one about and I have the fell to myself, a great time of day to be out. A bit cooler but the ground is so dry.....dry feet and clean fell shoes :-)
Not out for long but sometimes a quick fix is all that's needed.
River / canal run - Tuesday 27th March 2012
It is another sunny day and I head out from the office along the river to Hawes Bridge; back along the canal, it's good to be out but legs are still in a bad way !
Training - Monday 26th March 2012
Thanks Russ....legs are trashed completely and I know I'm not the only one suffering....
Training is hard, legs are tight and sore, I get through the session but that's about all I can say !
